The first plantings of 2016 went in a week ago: carrots, snap peas, lettuce, spinach, kale, and Brussels sprouts. So far just a little bit of kale and lettuce (or was that the spinach I planted there?) have come up.
I've got big plans for my garden this year with some varieties I've really come to love! On the list of hopefuls for the season- Fortex green beans- a pole variety I grew last year, stellar crunch, no stringiness at all. Brandywine- my absolute favorite tomato, and it's hybrid son, Brandyboy- a more tolerant but still delicious tomato recommended by a coworker. Fourth of July- a small fresh eating tomato also recommended by a coworker- he was bringing in buckets of them to work last summer to share. Fantastic snack! And finally- cozelle- a summer squash variety that is tasty and so productive. I learned my lesson last year, that while I've become creative to figure out many new ways to use zucchini, ONE plant is enough! Well anyway, that's a month off before anyone will see evidence of these varieties existing in the garden! Happy planting!
